Sails & Sabres
The Cyterian Empire ruled over the Flats of Sadiz, now home to the Beninite nomads. It was ruled by dynasties, of which there are believed to be four. They believed in a utopian afterlife known as paradise, and those who showed loyalty to the Gods and their Emperor were promised a place there.
The most loyal subjects of the Emperors built complex burial tombs for them, often integrated advanced engineering, arcane magic, and holy wards to protect them from thieves and raiders. Those that chose to underwent a holy ceremony in which they pledged their eternal spirits in service to their Emperor. This ritual guaranteed their entrance into Paradise, and it also meant they swore to serve that Emperor even in death.
Little more is known about the empire, as it was overshadowed in the eye of history by Kenora, which was a major enemy of the Cyterian Empire. Cytera eventually disintegrated under the continued pressure of Kenoran expansion, resulting in the lawless collection of nomadic tribes and warlords that dominated the deserts for centuries before Sultan Maled’s Unification Crusade.
